'Havfruen' is Danish for The Mermaid which has been the name of the restaurant since the late 1950s. Despite the restaurant having a handfull of various owners throughout the years, the focal point has always been serving fish to locals as well as tourists visiting the city.
The current owner, Philip Viscovich, opened the restaurant in the summer of 2017 and he and his team is continuously focusing on updating and improving the overall guest experience while respecting the incredibly historical atmosphere in the restaurant.
Our main focal point is servering simple bistro dishes prepared from honest, sustainable, local and - most importantly - fresh ingredients.
We aim to create an environment in which everybody feels welcome wether you would like to invite your entire family for a Sunday dinner or simply enjoy a romantic evening with a special someone.
The restaurant is one of the few places in Nyhavn that is completely true to the original interior which creates a unique atmosphere in a room full of stories; make sure to ask you waiter to tell a few of them.
